I really love color, so designing in earth tones is always quite a challenge for me, particularly when they are all brown based.
However the color palette specified for this week’s Spoonflower challenge “Earth Tone Throw Pillows” spoke to me in a weird way and before I knew it a design I am really happy with popped right out!
I also did a few other designs and also added some color to my original Hilda. All are now for sale in my Spoonflower shop in The Highland Cow Collection
2023 is the Year of the rabbit, and the prompt for this week’s Spoonflower challenge.
I took a Bauhaus approach with my design, riffing off what I created for my Year of the Tiger design last year, and went with a spring like color palette…Easter Bunnies!
I had such fun researching plants for this week’s Spoonflower challenge prompt – Poisonous plants. What amazed me was that I already have so many of them growing in my garden! Who knew bleeding heart was toxic!
Gosh the patience to cross stitch is immense. I have only done a little one and it took me forever!
My design for the Cross Stitch prompt this week for the Spoonflower challenge, riffs on my sausage dogs or doxies or weiner dogs. Whatever you call them they are fun little pooches!
It has been a tradition that Spoonflower has a challenge that features the Pantone color of the year, so it come as no surprise that it is indeed the prompt for a new challenge. What is different this year is that Spoonflower has really “jumped into bed” with Pantone and the challenge design has to feature not only the Pantone color of the Year “Viva Magenta” but also include the Ignite palette which was developed to coordinate with Viva magenta.
As much as I love the gorgeously vibrant “Viva Magenta” the color palette we wee asked to work with literally sucked the life out of it. But that is the challenge right!
I dilly and dallied and came up with two designs and am entering the Vineyard one.
I really don’t like those favorite things lists that pop up from celebrities, I don’t give a f**k about what they like, but I may be in the minority here!
My choice for this challenge was simple. A humble packet of seeds, The joy they give me is immense, from the excitement of choosing them, to starting them off in seed trays and waiting in anticipation for those first shoots. Then comes my impatience as I wait for the Chicago weather to finally reach a point where they might possible survive outside. The planting, the tending and finally the blooms. I mean, what is not to love!
I created two colorways but am planning on entering the darker of the two
It’s not yet Christmas yet here I am thinking about Valentines day as a result of this week’s Spoonflower challenge
Lets face it Valentines day is a commercial load of “balls” but it is hugely popular so it does indeed deserve a design or two. I have done a whole collection in the past, Love me Do and will be adding a few patterns!
I did a couple of hero design and am not sure which one to enter yet
Delicious Ditsy… now there is a fun design prompt for a challenge! I messed around with a recent Christmas charcuterie design I had created and turned it into something more ditsy, for this week’s challenge
Occasionally a Spoonflower design challenge prompt has me stumped on what to create but that was definitely not the case with this week’s “Art Deco” The funny thing is, is that I am not that keen on art deco design but the ideas just kept rolling out of my head and it was difficult to pick which one to enter.
