2022 is the year of the tiger and the prompt for this week’s Spoonflower Challenge.
I took a whimsical approach and created a pattern that would be super fun in the kids decor arena.
I also created another colorway – Night Tiger Tile

The prompt for this week’s Spoonflower challenge was Vintage Canned Goods, and this is where my warped mind took me. It’s amazing how my own brain can surprise me! My better half is like ” No! A cat can’t fit in a sardine tin” and I am like “Why not”
I had so much fun designing my entry for the Block Adventure Spoonflower design challenge this week.
I imagined myself chartering a boat from a rouge captain and having an ocean adventure. Oh the place we would go and the fun to be had!
Captain Scallywag Ocean Adventures
It is the end of my second year of challenging myself to enter every single Spoonflower design challenge and being the competitive girl that I am I also wanted to beat my 2020 results ! In 2020 I had 1 win, 6 more top ten placements and an additional 23 free proofs … gosh that seemed a daunting result to beat. 30 designs received some sort of prize!
But oh my goodness I did it! 2 wins, 11 additional top ten placements and 23 free proofs, making 36 designs receiving some sort of prize!
That is a tough act to follow in 2022 but I am going to do my best!
It is the first challenge of the 2022 and I am dilly dallying over which design to enter for Ditsy Adventure.
I recently got a space themed design prompt from my nephew which was turned into a duvet cover but on a small scale it works really nicely as a ditsy print.
But I also drew inspiration from the ocean and all the wonderful unexplored expanse it offers and created a whimsical submarine adventure.
I think I am going to go for my space adventure … for now.. who knows I may change my mind!
French for “Trick of the Eye” Trompe Loeil was super fun to design for. It also wraps up the Spoonflower design challenges for 2021. I have kept to my personal promise and entered every single one… just as I did in 2020. I will have another round up of how I did in the new year.
Oooh I have never been to Palm Springs but after all the research I have done this week for The Palm Springs wallpaper challenge, I now am itching to visit. What a fun place it sounds!
Every year they celebrate with Modernism Week which includes house tours and all sorts of fun events. I named my design in it’s honor
It was pretty fun doing research for this week’s Spoonflower design challenge, Comeback Species.
I came across the Bermese Star tortoise and when I saw the beautiful pattern on it’s shell I knew this wonderful creature was I wanted to draw inspiration from, for this challenge.
I riffed on it’s geometrical nature and went full geometrical in my design!

I would really love a greenhouse in my garden to extend the short growing season here in Chicago …maybe one day!
Victorian Greenhouse was the prompt for this week’s Spoonflower challenge so I channeled my desire and came up with this – Bountiful Botanical Greenhouse
Love is in the air for this week’s Spoonflower challenge Kitsch Valentine where the prompt is to channel #lovecore, vintage, sweet, sickly and lets face it tacky stuff.
I came up with Valentine Kitsch Birdies
I also turned some of my sweet birds into whimsical stickers!
